Desktop app Alpha v0.2.0
The full client, and your machine becomes the match server. Host LAN games over your own network, or public rooms for anyone on the internet. All desktop builds are experimental until play and hosting are verified on real machines for each platform.

macOS builds have ad-hoc signatures, without an Apple Developer ID signature or notarization. The Windows installer is unsigned. macOS: if it opens as "damaged", run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Redline\ Wars.app. Windows SmartScreen: choose "More info" → "Run anyway".
Run a community server
An always-on machine, a cheap VPS or that old laptop, can keep public rooms open around the clock. Headless, no owner token, dials out to the relay; no open inbound ports.

Needs Node.js 20 or newer. Unpack and double-click start-node.cmd (Windows) or run ./start-node.sh (Linux and macOS); no other steps. The first start creates rooms.json from the example with a unique room name and connects to the production Grid, so your room shows up on the Grid status page; --lan runs a LAN-only node instead. A VPS can use the bundled systemd unit.
